Sheffield United v Swindon

Swindon are back in action after their enforced extended break and are still top of the league. In the meantime, MK Dons have played their two games in hand and only managed to pick up four points to leave them two points behind the Town having now played the same number of games.

We travel to Bramall Lane, where last season the travelling fans witnessed, let’s be polite, a less than committed performance. This season the Blades last home defeat came at the hands of promotion rivals MK Dons way back at the beginning of December. The Blades last home game was that close run League Cup Semi Final against Tottenham, where they drew on the night but missed out on a place at Wembley due to the 2-3 aggregate score.

Will that play on the Sheffield players’ minds? Will they be fired up due to that result? We shall find out soon enough. One thing is for sure, Sheffield will not fear us. Swindon have not won at Bramall Lane in the last thirteen attempts, spanning 45 years. It was back on February 9, 1970 when Town last won there, 1-2 with goals from Trollope and Horsfield.

Yet, this season the Town’s away performance has been exceptional and we have won at grounds where we have had poor past records. I don’t expect this game to be any different and the voo-doo of Sheffield will be expunged.
