GILLINGHAM manager Justin Edinburgh has admitted that he would love to be putting the boots back on to face Swindon Town tonight.

The Gills boss has warned Swindon to expect a side looking to bounce back from their first defeat in nine, having lost at home 1-0 to Barnsley on Saturday.

Edinburgh, who took over at the Priestfield Stadium at the beginning of February, has already faced Mark Cooper’s side this season.

He was in charge at Newport County for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round tie, which Swindon came through unscathed with a 2-1 win.

However the side he will be facing tonight will be a very different prospect, as key men Massimo Luongo, Yaser Kasim and Wes Foderingham all missed that game.

Gillingham, who will be without left-back Bradley Garmston, are after an immediate response to the Barnsley defeat and Edinburgh is anticipating a mouth-watering encounter.

“It’s a good game to be playing in and it’s one I would love to be playing in myself,” he said.

“We will be wounded and we want to go and put that right. A few of us probably under-performed (on Saturday) and it is about a reaction and how you bounce back. That is what we have to look at.”

“We have got 13 games left and for whatever reason there will be teams needing points for different reasons.

“We are looking forward to the next game because those players are hurting in that dressing room, they have given up an unbeaten run, which they have worked ever so hard to get on, and we will be looking to put things right on Tuesday.

“When you lose any game it is disappointing and it is a challenge to put that right.

“That starts on Monday when we get back onto the training ground and go again.”
