WEST Wilts A clinched the league title and promotion with an emphatic 10-0 win over City of Bath C.

Wilts started well, controlling both territory and possession and creating lots of chances. The opening goal came after a good passing move, with Wilts moving the ball around the D to create space for Stuart Brailey, whose shot from just outside the area was deflected in by Grant Savides.

They got a second before half-time, again through Savides, and the score would have been a lot different but for the outstanding performance from the Bath keeper Alan Irons.

As the second half got under way, Wilts started to play with more confidence. The pressure mounted on the Bath defence and the goals started to flow, with Wilts finding themselves 8-0 up within 15 minutes of the restart thanks to goals from Stuart Brailey and five from James Baker.

With Wilts now in complete control the Bath defence became even more stretched and Savides was able to complete his hat-trick, and there was still time for Adam Bard to score his first senior goal for the club.

After the game, captain Chris Warren said: β€œIt’s been an outstanding team performance from the first game to the last. We have played some exciting hockey and fully deserve to finish as league winners.”

West Wilts Ladies 1st were beaten 7-2 when they entertained Salisbury 2nd.

Salisbury started strongly and raced into a 3-0 lead at half-time.

The hosts started the second half strongly and Anji Whittamore was denied following a goalmouth scramble, Fi Pridham and Livie Evans were thwarted by the keeper and Livie Evans shot over the bar.

Although strikes Sharna Crowe and Jess McLean did see Wilts reduce the arrears, Salisbury clocked up another trio of goals before the end.

West Wilts Ladies 3rd thrashed their Keynsham counterparts 8-0, with the goals coming from Nic Ilic (2), Nikki Ford (2), Abby Bennett, Holly Barry, Yolanda Kennedy and Sally Ford.
