JONATHAN Obika was delighted to see his close friend Jermaine Hylton bag his first professional goal.

Hylton struck the decisive blow as Mark Cooper’s side beat Peterborough United 1-0 to all but cement Swindon Town’s spot in the play-offs.

Frontman Obika was one of the outstanding players on the pitch and played a crucial role in setting up his young teammate for the decisive moment.

The former Tottenham man turned smartly from John Swift’s inside pass and laid the ball off to Hylton.

The 21-year-old substitute still had plenty to do.

A delicate feint brought him some more room, then a well-placed, if slightly scuffed shot beat Posh stopper Ben Alnwick down to his right.

Hylton described it as a ‘good story’ that Obika was the man to assist his first goal and the 24-year-old was clearly very happy to lend a helping hand.

“It was a very good bit of play for Jermaine’s goal,” Obika told the local media.

“We link up very well, Jermaine was in space, did well to pull off the marker and it was a great finish.

“As soon as he came here we hit it off and I’m very happy that he scored his first goal.

“Yeah I’ve taken him under my wing a bit, he’s just like my friend back home, we have good banter together.

“I’m delighted for him.

“He’s done well in the cameos when he’s come on and in training you see him every day, he’s got good feet and definitely an eye for goal.”
