WILTSHIRE paddlers Calum Gingell, Conor Henley (Wiltshire Youth Canoe Club) and Spencer Armstrong (Devizes Canoe Club), have been selected to represent Great Britain in the Junior and U23 White Water World Championships in early August in Nantahala, North Carolina.

It will be the second British selection for Gingell, of Wiltshire Youth Canoe Club, and Armstrong, of Devizes Canoe Club after they competed in the European Championships event held in Bosnia last year but Henley, a clubmate of Gingell, will be receiving his first international honours.

In the selection races on the white water course at the National Watersports Centre Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, Gingell secured impressive victories in both the junior sprint and classic events, making him a convincing overall winner with Armstrong close behind in second place.

In the U23 event, Henley finished third behind two experienced paddlers.

White Water racing events involve both a sprint and a classic time trial as well as a team race.
