ALUN Rossiter was delighted with the response of his side as they ran Wolverhampton Wolves ragged with a 28-point victory at the Abbey Stadium last night.

However, it was an evening that left the Robins boss with more questions than answers.

Grzegorz Zengota and Kyle Howarth, two riders both fighting for their futures in Robins colours, rode their hearts out to pose their team manager a huge quandary when it comes to deciding which one to axe in the imminent roster shake-up.

Pole Zengota enjoyed a perfect night, scoring 12 points from his four heats, with British Under-21 champion Howarth notching 10+1.

In truth the match itself was a non-event, the visitors never really showed up and after finding themselves 15-2 down after three heats, could not recover.

Rossiter was impressed with how his team performed, especially the two under-fire riders.

But now the Abbey chief has to make one of the biggest calls of his career in order to facilitate a move for a big name number one, thought to be Aussie star Darcy Ward.

“It was the response I wanted as the Leicester performance on Monday was shocking - no ifs or buts. We started badly (at Beaumont Park), with Troy (Batchelor) having engine troubles in the first couple of heats until he got on the bike he wanted,” he said.

“Over the next couple of days I’ll make a decision (on who is going to be let go).

“Zengota and Howarth rode fantastic but it’s not rocket science (one of them has to go).

“It’s probably the worst decision I’ve had to make in my time as manager. I’ve got two riders who are both riding excellently and have done nothing wrong. Unfortunately, it’s a numbers game.

“We’ve made contact with Darcy (Ward). That’s where we are he’s shown an interest, but again it depends on his visa.”
