FORMER Swindon Town goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has agreed a three-year deal with Scottish Championship side Rangers, it was confirmed this lunchtime.

Foderingham, 24, has linked up with new manager Mark Warburton at Ibrox, with the deal including the option of a fourth year.

The former Crystal Palace stopper was released by the County Ground club following the end of this season, which ended with defeat in the League One play-off final at Wembley to Preston.

Foderingham had garnered interest from a number of clubs, incluidng Birmingham City in the Championship, having made a great impression in his four years with Town after being signed by former boss Paolo Di Canio.

He made more than 190 appearances for Town, having started his career with Fulham and then moved on to Palace.

"The long-term vision is what made me choose Rangers,'' Foderingham told Rangers' website.

“This is a massive club - the most successful in the world trophies-wise - and I just wanted to come to be a part of that.

“We want to get back to the Premiership and challenge, and there is European football beyond that too.

“If I joined a Championship side, I wouldn’t get that opportunity.

“The gaffer and I spoke about there being a three year plan. We want to win the league, get into the Premiership and then challenge beyond that.

“I had four very good years at Swindon, but now I want to challenge myself at a different level.

“Coming here, I will hopefully get the opportunity to play in Europe, and if we get promoted this year, there’s no reason why we can’t do that within three years.''

He added: "I’m really excited to be here and there is a really positive feeling around the place.

“I came on Monday to have a look around the stadium the training facilities, and it’s a really exciting time to be at Rangers.”

London-born Foderingham, part of the PFA League One team of the year in the 2012-13 season, has also represented England at Under 16, 17 and 19 level .
