LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers has hailed Swindon Town’s footballing philosophy after overseeing his side’s 2-1 victory today.

The Premier League outfit currently have two players, in the form of Jordan Williams and Kevin Stewart, on loan at the County Ground.

Young stopper Lawrence Vigouroux is also on trial at SN1, having impressed in his 90 minutes against his parent club this afternoon.

Rodgers is hoping that Swindon’s style of football will help develop the younger talent and believes it is not matched by any other club in League One.

“The Swindon side are a wonderful team,” said the Anfield boss.

“I have seen this young team play now for the last year and how they play is fantastic.

“They need to come here and show they are capable of playing in a very good team.

“This is a team and a philosophy here at the club that I have great admiration for, which is why I want the young players to come here.

“We have got lots of opportunities for them to go and we speak with Mark and speak with Lee and this is a perfect football club for them to come to.

“The idea of football, the courage, the bravery they show to play, there is nobody in the league close to that and for them, they fit that style perfectly.”

Another Liverpool youth product Ryan Kent, who made a cameo appearance from the bench against Town, has also been rumoured with a move to Swindon in the close season, but Rodgers would not be lured into revealing the future plans of the 18-year-old, who has also been linked with a move to the Championship.

“I don’t do transfers in or out, but as you can see, he is a talented boy,” he added.
