DEVIZES Town boss Darran Walters reckons that his team are heading into this weekend’s FA Vase first qualifying round in fine fettle.

On August 22, Town racked up their first victory of the season with a 3-2 win at county rivals Westbury United and despite a lengthy break from action, they followed that up with a 2-1 win at home to Hengrove Athletic on Tuesday evening.

Robbie Mitchell put Devizes a goal up whilst Tom Slater dusted himself down after being fouled in the area to score the hosts’ second from the penalty spot, with Hengrove grabbing a last-gasp consolation goal through Asa White.

And back-to-back wins has Walters smiling ahead of this weekend’s Vase clash with Dorset Premier League outfit Shaftesbury Town at Nursteed Road.

“It’s a big game on Saturday and I’m looking forward to it now,” said Walters.

“We had a long break after the last game but managed to come back with a win, which is great.

"They had chances in the first half but 2-1 made it look a lot closer than it was."
