STRICKEN Swindon Robins rider Darcy Ward has received support in his recovery from serious injury from an unlikely source - Poland's national football side.
Led by star striker Robert Lewandowski, of Bayern Munich, the Poles, who take on world champions Germany in their European Championship qualifier on Friday, posted a picture on Twitter while posing with the #staystrongdarcy message.
Ward, 23, is now at a private hospital in Dorset after being flown back into Luton Airport last week, following a horror crash on August 23 when riding for Polish side Zielona Gora.
The Queenslander suffered serious spinal injuries and was left with no lower body feeling after the incident, with the full extent of his injuries still to be determined.
A fund set up last week to help fund Ward's rehabilitation currently stands at nearly £23,000.
