SWINDON Town boss Mark Cooper has defended the fitness of Henrik Ojamaa after it was questioned by fans in recent days.

The Estonian international has had a stop-start beginning to life at the County Ground, having only completed 90 minutes twice since his arrival at the beginning of September.

The 24-year-old was a half-time substitute in the defeat to Oxford United on Tuesday night, but lasted just 34 minutes as he was subbed off for Jeremy Balmy.

Despite suggestions that Ojamaa was not yet up to full fitness, having missed out on a pre-season with the club, Cooper said the decision to haul him off was not because of his condition.

Instead, he questioned Ojamaa’s ability with the ball at feet and has called on him to improve to create more for the team.

“Henrik didn’t do enough,” he said. “He didn’t do enough on Saturday with the ball and didn’t do enough at Oxford.

“His effort was fantastic, but he didn’t create enough with the ball and that’s what he’s in the team for.

“He’s really fit - he’s struggled with his quality.

“He’s got to do better than that when he gets the ball.”
