LAWN Under 16 regional squad have been promoted to the Regional First Division after going through their pool undefeated in the South West regional seeding in Plymouth.

The club will face teams from around south-west as they compete for a place at the National Club finals next year.

In their opening match they beat Jersey Jets 21-12 despite trailing at the end of the first quarter.

Their second and third matches saw them beat Carn Brae Storm 29-10, and Bridgewater 24-6 before winning their final game 24-14 against Old Chelts.

Lawn also had success in their first Regional League Two match of the season as they defeated Abbey Meads 40-35 with Charlotte Legge named player of the match.

In Division One of the league, reigning champions Raychem A won a high-scoring game against club-mates Raychem B 71-55, with Ayren Walker (A) and Sophie Collins (B) players of the match.

Wootton Bassett’s A and B teams also faced each other for the first time in eight years, the A team running out 46-21 winners.

Nationwide C, who welcomed back Hannah Fairgrieve, were unable to give Stephanie Edmonds a winning farewell in Division Three as they lost 25-23 to Croft C. Elsewhere, Fairford B beat Burmah C 26-25.

Marlborough scored 11 goals without reply in the opening quarter of their match against Abbey Meads F in Division Five on their way to a 42-7 victory.
