THE Yelko Pino saga has taken another bizarre twist after his parent club Celta Vigo claimed that he has joined Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers.

According to the Spanish club’s official website and official Twitter account, the 19-year-old has joined Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side on a six-month contract, with the Spanish club holding the option to retain the player once he has completed his stay at Loftus Road.

The latest twist echoes the announcement of Pino’s ‘arrival’ at the County Ground in September, when the La Liga club announced that the Spanish Under 19 player had joined Swindon on loan.

Town subsequently stated that the statement was incorrect at the time of the announcement, but Pino has since been training with the club and was only let go at the weekend after chairman Lee Power opted not to take him on loan in January.

“I believe he has left the club,” Power told BBC Wiltshire last night.

“I don’t think he was at the football club today. I know that situation was one we weren’t going to continue with.

“It was a difficult one for the boy. There was a turnaround in managers in a short space of time and we decided it wasn’t one to pursue in the end.”
