SWINDON 2nd got themselves off the mark in Division One by claiming the derby spoils against Nationwide House in their first victory of the season last weekend.

Steve Laggett’s unbeaten 88 and Danny Baker’s 50 helped hosts Swindon put up a competitive 272-5 and a spirited run-chase from House proved ultimately insufficient.

Nick Clarke (60), Luke Bradley-Leach (59) and Matthew Hyde (53) all weighed in but their efforts were in vain as the visitors could only reach 255-7.

Elsewhere, early pace-setters Royal Wootton Bassett maintained their unbeaten start to the new season by claiming their third win of the campaign courtesy of an eight-wicket triumph at Hinton Charterhouse.

Tendai Maruma caused the home side all manner of problems as he claimed 5-44 from his nine overs, with Charterhouse skittled for 103 midway through the 30th over.

That left Bassett to cruise over the line, with Taruma top-scoring with 47 as his side reached 107-2 in the 24th over.

DIVISION THREE

SWINDON A secured a third win of the season thanks to a home victory over Heytesbury & Sutton Veny.

With the hosts batting first, Wahab Khalid (76) and Tom Foreman (50) both found their range but Swindon were skittled for 234 with an over to go.

However, Khalid (3-45) and James Parkinson (3-41) did enough to ensure that the home side won out by 12 runs, with Heytesbury restricted to 222-8.

Wroughton Wranglers beat Seagry by six wickets, with Mark McMeeking starring with a haul of six wickets for just 20 runs as the visitors were all out for 205, despite the efforts of Angelo Moretti (99) and Steve Thompsett (56).

Josh Moncrieff then hit 50 to help Wroughton reach 209-4 with three-and-a-half overs to spare.

Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd suffered a 26-run reverse at the hands of Keevil.

DIVISION FOUR

WANBOROUGH celebrated their first victory of the season with a 34-run win at Buscot Park, with the visitors taking the advantage by posting 212-6.

Buscot Park then crumbled 34 runs short as they were put under the cosh and dispatched for 178 with five overs remaining.

DIVISION FIVE

BLUNSDON were left licking their wounds after they were whitewashed at home by Chippenham 3rd.

The hosts were removed for just 89 in the 31st over, with Matt Jenkins the chief antagonist as he took 5-26 before Chippenham cruised to 91 without loss in little more than 23 overs.
