SWINDON Town will begin their 2016/17 League One campaign at home to Coventry City.
This morning, the EFL – the newly rebranded Football League – released next season’s fixture list, handing Luke Williams’ men a home clash with the Sky Blues on the opening day of the next term on Saturday, August 6 .
Town’s first showdown with local rivals Oxford United, promoted after finishing second in League Two last season, will take place at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, September 10 whilst the two teams will renew hostilities at the County Ground on Saturday, February 4.
Bristol Rovers – another local side promoted from League Two last term – will make the trip to Swindon on Saturday, August 27, whilst Williams’ troops will sweat off their Christmas dinners in south east London on Boxing Day as they take on Millwall on the road.
Town will bring down the curtain on 2016/17 with a trip to Charlton Athletic on Sunday, April 30 (kick-off 12pm).
