SWINDON Robins boss Alun Rossiter reckons a winning start to July would help to repair the damage caused by their disappointing beginning to last month.

The Robins end an eight-day hiatus from the track by heading to Brandon Stadium to take on Coventry Bees in the Elite League tonight, aiming to maintain their push towards the top of the table.

Rossiter’s men go in on the back of successive victories over Leicester and Lakeside last month, but the Abbey Stadium chief is targeting the victory he says would help banish the spectre of back-to-back losses against champions Poole and a shock reverse against Leicester four weeks ago.

“If we can win tomorrow, we can put away the bad week we had against Poole and Leicester (on June 1-2),’’ Rossiter told the Swindon Advertiser.

“Getting three or four points away from home will really make a difference for us.’’ The Robins picked up their first away win of the 2016 campaign at Brandon in early May and Rossiter sees no reason why history cannot repeat itself this evening.

“We’ve got a full set of riders who should be all fit now and we’re looking forward to it,’’ he added.

“It’s not going to be easy at Coventry because it never is, but we shouldn’t have fear. We’ve won at Coventry once this season, and I can’t see why we can’t win it again.’’ “Everyone seems to be back in shape, so although it’s going to be tough we’ve got to go there with the mind-set that we can come out on top.”

Nick Morris and Rohan Tungate appear to have shaken off recent injuries with Rossiter now hoping the Australian duo can step up their performances as Swindon look to cement a place in the end-of-season play-offs.

“Nick’s had another week (of recovery), he wasn’t 100 per cent last week and didn’t feel strong enough to ride in heat 15 last week (the 52-41 win over Lakeside),’’ added Rossiter.

“He’s dropped off a bit this year but that’s not me blaming him - it happens.

“Rohan rode in Slovakia and got a paid maximum for Somerset on Tuesday. There is a little bit of pressure on him at home, but his away form has been fine.’’ Robins will also have skipper Jason Doyle leading the charge, fresh off the back of his Czech Grand Prix triumph last weekend.

Rossiter added: “Jason has been riding well all season and by his standards, he would have been disappointed with paid 10 last week (against Lakeside).’’ Coventry will operate rider replacement to cover for the injured Jason Garrity, whilst they remain on the lookout for a guest to cover Josh Bates in the number seven spot.

Garrity faces around a month on the sidelines after crashing out of the match at Leicester on Monday - his third accident in recent weeks - and has a break to his ulna (forearm) which will rule him out for more than a month.

n SWINDON will host the return Sky Sports-televised fixture against the Bees at the Abbey Stadium on Monday (7.30pm), with admission slashed to just £10 for adults
