SWINDON captain Andy Staff is looking forward to a tough test when his side play former league leaders Trowbridge this weekend.

It could be a make or break couple of weeks for Staff’s men, who face in-form Westbury next Saturday.

“These next two weeks are going to be a step up from what we have faced in the last few weeks,’’ said Staff.

“Hopefully we can pick off one of those guys and continue moving up the table. It’s going to be tough because they are two good sides.”

After picking up momentum from their last two fixtures against two lower placed teams, the next two fixtures will provide a much sterner test.

“Both those teams (Great Bedwyn and Devizes) are just below us and those were matches that we really looked at as ones we needed to win and the next challenge is to try and win against the teams that are just above us,’’ he added.

“They are both more than 20 points above us so they are both stronger sides than us but that’s the next step for us, to try to beat those sides.”

Swindon have recorded four wins from their last five fixtures, but Staff added: “Trowbridge have been in the top two or three all season so they are a very good side.

“It’s going to be a big test but we will just do our best and hopefully try to take the confidence we’ve gained and turn it into another positive result.”

“We’ve put a bit of form together and that’s two wins on the bounce and four in the last five. At the start of the season, the weather wasn’t great which meant the pitches were quite difficult and we struggled in terms of selecting a consistent team.

“We have settled down now and we seem to be moving in the right direction and we’ve got a bit of confidence in the camp.”
