SWINDON Robins were edged out at Exeter Aces as the play-off picture in South West Cycle Speedway begins to take shape.

Travelling with only six riders due to a late illness and other various reasons, Swindon somehow managed to keep the meeting tight throughout, losing out 91-87 at the end of the match.

Steve Harris rode to a six-ride maximum as he continues to defy logic and age whilst Andrew Yard maintained his good form, collecting valuable points and a couple of key race wins along the way.

Rob Hunt was also consistent throughout despite a fall early on with Jake Neighbour after struggling to get used to the wet conditions to start with.

He finished the meeting with two 7- 3 wins with Harris to help make the score line more respectable.

For the hosts, Craig Nethercott rode well to collect many points despite his limited appearances, while Dave Murphy also proved that age is just a number with a couple of key heat wins, keeping Neighbour alert in the final race.

Swindon will play host to the British Over 40s Final this Saturday at the Oasis Leisure Centre at 2pm.
