SWINDON Town's decision to charge supporters returning for the rearranged League One clash against Bristol Rovers has been branded as "disgraceful" by Pirates' boss Darrell Clarke.

Town's announcement that all spectators except season ticket holders must pay again when the two sides meet again on Tuesday, September 20 has been met with derision by supporters of both clubs.

Saturday's match at the County Ground was abandoned at 0-0 just after the hour mark after monsoon-like conditions made the pitch unplayable.

Supporters were informed minutes after the abandonment that they should retain their ticket stubs ahead of a rearranged fixture, but Town today revealed the new arrangements, blaming policing costs for the decision.

Many Swindon fans have reacted angrily to the club's stance, with Rovers' followers similarly unimpressed - and Clarke revealed his own displeasure when asked about the issue before his side's EFL Trophy tie with Reading this evening.

Clarke told the Bristol Post: "It is shocking and absolutely disgraceful. As far as I am concerned it is simply ridiculous and taking the mickey.

"I've never heard that happen before. I was under the impression that if a game gets abandoned you either get a refund or retain your ticket to gain free admission to the rearranged game.

"It just undermines football and it is the general supporter who misses out.

"It's a void game where there was no outcome and the fans that were there should be allowed back to watch the game for free."
