SWINDON Shock are hoping to pick up from where they left off as they prepare to host Oxford Stealers at the weekend in National League Division Four.

The New College-based side haven’t been in action since their 83-77 win over Cardiff City on December 10, as their game with the Exeter Eagles, seven days later, was cancelled.

David Colclough’s side were in good form before the break as they won their last three games and the player-coach is looking for more of the same this afternoon.

Colclough thinks the game against second-from-bottom Oxford is the ideal game for his troops to come back to.

“The fact our game against Exeter was cancelled put a little bit of a dampener on it (the winning run). We added an extra session last week to make sure we are ready to go (against Oxford),” he said.

“Everybody looks good, and Oxford is probably the perfect game for us to come back on, they’ve struggled throughout the season.

“We beat them at their place with only seven players. I think we are a lot stronger than we were when played them last time.

“We know they have two players who really can shoot the ball, if you leave them open then they will make you pay for it.”

The Shock chief is also hoping the club will be able to re-sign former point guard Antonio Wilburn from Italian side Olimpiano Mosciano in Serie C.

Colclough who says the club are currently doing the paperwork with Basketball England acknowledges it would be a fantastic addition to the team “If we could get our point guard back that would be a huge plus,” added Colclough.

“I look at (Oxford) as a really nice tune up game, if we can get this done and take care of a few other things we are looking at RCT Gladiators and Plymouth as our last two big matches.

“We are at the time of year where we know there are only three teams in this league in our bracket.”
