SWINDON Town will start the 2017/18 EFL season on the first weekend in August following the announcement of the key dates for next term.

All three divisions of the EFL kick-off over the weekend Friday, August 4, to Sunday, August 6, with the fixture list due to be announced on Wednesday, June 21.

The regular season will continue until the weekend of May 5, 2018, when the Championship and Leagues One and Two will all come to a close.

The EFL play-off finals will then take place on successive days at Wembley over the second Bank Holiday weekend in May, starting with the Championship decider on Saturday, May 26.

The League One play-off final takes place 24 hours later, with the League Two game on Monday, May 28.

Town supporters will have plenty of opportunities to watch their team play over the festive period with full fixture programmes scheduled on Saturday, December 23, Boxing Day and Saturday, December 30 as well as New Year’s Day.

The first round of the EFL Cup – which will be known as the Carabao Cup next season - will take place immediately after the season openers, with midweek slots in week commencing Monday, August 7.

The 2017/18 Checkatrade Trophy will begin towards the end of opening month, with the first round of fixtures scheduled for week commencing Monday, August 28.
