SWINDON College Old Boys recorded their 14th consecutive win of the season as they moved 20 points clear at the top of the Berks/Bucks & Oxon Premier Division.

Florin Palcau bagged two tries as Damon Murphy, Thomas Barron, Bobby Tilling, Matty Allen and Charlie Grabe all chipped in with solitary efforts, while the latter topped up the score with his boot.

Grabe was happy with how his side performed in their 49-6 win over Didcot and admits the team would like to finish the season unbeaten.

“In the first half, we were good. We did all of the right things, played with the right structures and blew them away a little bit,” he said “Second half, we lost our way a little bit. They were physical but our scrum and line-out were very dominant.

“Through the game and the second half, we just went through the motions really. We were very good.

“Barring any huge issues, it is likely we will go up. We want to remain unbeaten in the league, that’s our plan as a team but we want to do it in the right way.”

Grabe also stressed it is important his team do things the right way as they gear up for promotion at the end of the season.

“We are trying to do things properly in preparation for the league above. Just because we can score in one or two phases in this league doesn’t mean we should,” added Grabe “If we don’t do it right, we’ll just go straight back down and none of us want to do that.

“In the league above, if you’re not keeping the ball and scoring then you’re not going to win.

“You don’t break down teams from the league above as easily as we break them down in this league, that’s the big difference.”
