CLUB captain Nathan Thompson is one of five senior players to have been offered new contracts by Swindon Town.

Thompson, Jonathan Obika, Yaser Kasim, Raphael Branco and Jermaine Hylton have all been offered fresh deals at the County Ground, with the quintet all seeing their current contracts expire this summer.

Those offers come despite the club being without a manager at present following the dismissal of head coach Luke Williams in the wake of Town’s relegation from League One.

However, Anton Rogers has not been offered a new deal by Town, with a club statement revealing that the midfielder has already left the club with the impending expiration of his contract.

The futures of Jake Evans and Tom Smith, who had recently been sent out on loan to League of Ireland side Waterford, is currently unknown as they are also out of contract come the end of June.

Under EFL rules, Town had to make offers to any player they wished to retain for next season before Saturday or risk being fined.

The likelihood of any of the five players to be offered new contracts remaining at the club for next season is far from certain. The Advertiser understands at least three of those have been offered deals elsewhere, both at home and abroad.

As many as seven other clubs – some in the Championship – are interested in signing centre-back Thompson, while fellow defender Branco and midfielder Kasim have also been approached by other teams.

It is understood that Kasim has a deal on the table from a Championship side, while Branco has received offers from clubs in Thailand and Italy.

Swindon released four players at the start of the month, with Jamie Sendles-White, Jordan Stewart, Bradley Barry and Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill all leaving the County Ground after the club opted not to take up the option of a further year on their previous deals.

Of those four, two have found new clubs, with Barry signing a two-year deal with Chesterfield, who were also relegated from League One last term, and Stewart heading back to Northern Ireland with Linfield.
