SWINDON Robins ace Adam Ellis has been named as a reserve for next month's British Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff.

Ellis and fellow Great Britain junior Josh Bates will get a taste of top-level speedway at Principality Stadium on July 22, Ellis taking the number 17 race jacket and Bates 18

Both riders have been named in Alun Rossiter’s Great Britain squad for the Speedway World Cup next month, hoping for a place as the U21 reserve at number five in the team.

The pair qualified for last year’s FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship Final series, with Bates finishing 10th and Ellis 12th.

They join double world champion Tai Woffinden and wild card Craig Cook in flying the British flag in the Welsh capital, with Swindon Robins skipper Jason Doyle, currently second in the Grand Prix standings, also likely to take part.

Doyle was also hoping to ride in tomorrow's Danish Grand Prix in Horsens and was testing the right leg he injured in a crash in Poland earlier this week in today's practice session.
