AFTER the heroic defence against Kettering on Saturday that resulted in a 2-2 draw, the long away trip to Chesham Utd on Tuesday night proved to be a bridge too far for Frome Town.

Chesham took a 3-0 lead within 18 minutes and despite Frome pulling one back from Jon Davies, Chesham scored twice more.

Injuries, suspensions and unavailability resulted in Frome travelling with a squad that could just about field 11 recognised first-team players and with the injured George Miller on the bench and Josh Jeffries forced to pick himself and coach Ben Cleverley as subs, Lewis Graham also stepped in as sub on loan from Warminster.

The match started in the worst possible way for Frome as Shane Bush buried a cross from the left in the third minute and with the visitors still not really managing to get into their stride, the task became harder as Bush scored his second as he headed a corner home from the six-yard box.

With the traffic all one-way, Chesham scored a third through full-back Benji Crilley in the 18th minute.

In the second half, Frome started to take the game to the hosts and pulled one back in the 76th minute as Darren Jefferies broke and set up Davies who fired low into the corner of the net.

Chesham made it 4-1 in the 79th as Joe Iaciofano took advantage of a mix-up in the defence.

Substitute Scott McGleish took advantage of another awful mix-up to fire the fifth.
