INTERIM boss Matt Taylor is unsure over Chris Hussey's availability for Saturday's League Two clash with Cheltenham Town at the County Ground despite the on-loan defender's participation in training this week.

Sheffield United ace Hussey has not featured for Town since limping out during the second half of the televised 2-0 win at Forest Green Rovers bac on September 22 last year, with his proposed comeback being thwarted by a number of setbacks.

The diagnosed groin problem continued to cause the player grief with Hussey, who netted three times in nine league games prior to the injury, missing the majority of Town's promotion push.

Taylor, who will lead Town for the first time since the departure of David Flitcroft to Mansfield a week ago said: "We have had Chris Hussey training this week, which is a real boost for the football club. Whether he's ready to be involved this weekend we're not sure."

He added: "Amine Linganzi has a complex issue, something else has popped up for Donal McDermott so that is disappointing. We've got fit players and that's what we've got to focus on."

Taylor, who watched Cheltenham draw 1-1 with Notts County on Tuesday at which Phil Brown - another to be linked with the Town vacancy was also in attendance, will have had nine days in which to embed his ideas with the Town players by the time of kick off on Saturday.

But he is still unsure over whether he himself will be on the field for the encounter against Cheltenham.

"We've had some lengthy conversations about me playing on Saturday, but it is a question I can't answer at the moment."

"Alan McLoughlin (Academy coach) is helping which is great. He's down in the office and we're chewing the fat over a lot of things, along with Dean Thornton (goalkeeping coach). Macca has been very good and he can only benefit us."
