GOATACRE slipped to their fourth defeat in five top-flight matches as Clevedon got the better of a weather-affected clash at Goatacre Cricket Ground.

Having won the toss and batted, the Somerset visitors ran 284-7 from their 50 overs, opener Masoor Khan scoring 91 off 106 balls, including 14 fours.

Max Curtis added 46 but the home side threw in 32 extras to bump up the away side's total, Josh Langley, Benny Howell and David Miles taking two wickets apiece.

Needing 201 off 27 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis method, the home side lost wicketkeeper-opener Ross Dixie without a run on the board while Howell added 64 from 60 balls but garnered precious little support.

Graeme Van Buuren took 4-20 and Jake Lintott 3-13 as Goatacre were dismissed for 121 in the 23rd over.

Goatacre skipper Ed Wilkins admits his side's start to the campaign is nothing they would not have expected.

"We knew it was going to be a tough start to the season having come into the division this season and that's how it has panned out,'' he said.

"We've had a few issues with availability in recent weeks, but hopefully we can get that sorted and start to put a few results together.''

The villagers' next opponents this weekend are local rivals Potterne, who have also won just one of their last five after subsiding to devastating Bedminster bowling at the Grove on Saturday.

Put into bat, the home side were dismissed for just 128 in the 28th over.

Skipper Ashur Morrison made 43 from 38 balls but support was sparse with only three other batsmen reaching double figures.

James Carter took 5-29 and Saiprasad Sudarshan Kamuni 4-50 for the visitors but their reply was not without incident.

Potterne's Jake Roberts took 5-42 and Wiltshire captain Ed Young took four catches as Bedminster wobbled at 91-6.

However unbeaten knocks of 20 from Kamuni and 25 by Tom Smith saw the Bristol side home in the 22nd over.
