Ulm leads Harriers' award winners

WORLD Schools 400m champion Toby Ulm was the winner of the mens' award (Morley Trophy) at Swindon Harriers' annual presentation evening.

Ulm, currently studying in the USA on a sports scholarship, won his first national title at senior level in an event he only took up three years ago.

The main women's award (the Poolman Trophy) was given to Yasmin Smith for her performance at the English Schools' Championships in the 3000m (fourth).

As well as being an accomplished distance runner on both track and cross country, she combines it with swimming and cycling to successfully compete in triathlons.

Other trophies were awarded to Craig Edmunds (Robert Vincent Cup for Boys 3000m), Ben Tanner (under 13 Boys Sprint Trophy), Daniel Large (under 15 Boys Sprint Trophy), Luke Lewington (under 17 Men Sprint Trophy); Becky Lawrence (Girls Sprint Trophy); James Stanley (Metric Mile 1500m); Kenton Mielnik (Mens Field Events Trophy); Natasha Zebroski (Womens Field Events.

Awards for contributions, points scored and performance while competing for the club in the Southern Track and Field Leagues went to Ben Scarlet, James Neal and Dave Taylor in the Mens' League and Vickey Bass, Kate Jacobs and Anna Moscrop in the Women's.

Awards for outstanding performance: Nyle Clinton (both track and cross country), Emily Connolly, Brian Gardner, Kate Jacobs, Jess Salles, Amber Mansell. Matthew Tanner, Catrin Garland, Luke Lewington.

Club Athlete awards (for valued contributions): Joshua Rowland, Katie Westcott, Ashley Fox, Val Gibbons, Hayley Elbourne, Declan Walace, Zoe Large, Akash Pednekar, Emily Connolly, Sam Burnside.
