Funeral directors AE Smith and Son of Swindon and E Wootten and Son of Calne and Chippenham are sponsoring the four major Wiltshire bowls tournaments.

The county-wide sponsorship programme starts today with the annual County Benevolent match for the E Wootten trophy.

This will be held at Devizes Bowls Club where the West Wilts Bowls League take on Wiltshire Bowls Association.

The funeral directors are also sponsoring the Wiltshire Ladies' Coronation Triples, a one-day tournament played at three venues.

The event takes place on Wednesday, July 23 at Highworth, Wroughton and Calne bowls clubs.

The third event receiving financial support is the annual Wiltshire Men's Tourist Trophy.

This long-established knockout tournament is played throughout the season with the final held at Chippenham Bowls Club on September 7.

The fourth event being sponsored is the Wiltshire County Mixed Doubles Rink.

This open knockout tournament starts this month with the final to be played at Devizes Bowls Club on September 14.
