Steans shines for Lacock

8:55am Friday 4th July 2008

BEANACRE asked Lacock to bat first in their match in Division Three of the Wiltshire League and made their usual tight start, but the match changed when Phil Steans walked to the wicket.

With a combination of quick running and hard hitting he kept the scoreboard ticking over and finished undefeated on 114 in a Lacock innings of 209 for seven.

In reply Beanacre also made steady progress, but lost some cheap wickets.

The match seemed to swing Beanacre's way when John Adcock joined Paul Gilbert at the crease, but Adcock's departure prompted a flurry of wickets, including Gilbert for 77. This time there was no late fight back by the Beanacre tail and they were all out for 196.
