A HALF-CENTURY from Michael Coles was not enough to prevent defeat for Corsham at the hands of Premier One champions Bath on Saturday.

The skipper smashed 50 runs in 58 balls but his side still lost by four wickets at North Parade.

Corsham were put in to bat and after the early loss of opener Sam Collier for one, the visitors began to get the scoreboard ticking over.

Pete Dennett, who hit 66 not out the previous weekend against Glastonbury, made 21, while Neetan Chouhan made 32 and Roger Sillence notched up 33.

After Andrew Davis chipped in with 18, Coles produced Corsham's knock of the day and Steve Bullen then made 20 not out as the visitors ended on 184 for seven from 55 overs.

Lloyd Davies took 2-26 in five overs but Vikram Banerjee was Corsham's chief tormentor, as he took 2-55 and bowled four maidens in his 16 overs.

Bath made a good start to their innings through openers James Campbell (26) and Tom Stayt (24).

Corsham then went on the rampage with 56 runs on the board, dismissing five batsmen for the loss of only 13 runs.

But number three Robin Lett (58 not out) kept his head and he saw out the match with Banerjee (25) in the 49th over.

Alex Senneck finished on 3-29 while Roger Sillence took 2-69 and Jason Searle claimed 1-21.
