The Nursteed Road outfit were thumped 6-0 at Dawlish Town on Saturday and were narrowly defeated 2-1 at home to Calne Town on Tuesday, Rob Drown put Devizes in the second half but Ben Fitch pulled Calne level.
Danny Jones snatched all three points for the Lillywhites when he pounced minutes from time.
Whitbread said: "When we went one up I thought we were going to hang on.
"It was a shame but I was pleased with the performance. We're not going to get too down about it."
Calne boss Robbie Lardner said: "I thought we generally controlled the first half but second half they got a goal and caused us one or two problems.
"We showed great character to get a goal back and then we ground it out which was excellent."
Devizes travel to Street tomorrow, while Calne visit Bournemouth Poppies in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase, with Gary Banks returning to the side.
