Wilcot beat Lambourn by four wickets

A controlled run chase saw Wilcot beat Lambourn by four wickets on Saturday.

The mainstay of the home side's batting was Steve Sadler, whose 88 not out contained fifteen fours and a six and was a masterclass in measured hitting.

His sixth wicket partnership of 103 with Julian Gilbey (35) turned the match in Wilcot's favour after the aggression and accuracy of Lambourn's openers Annetts and Munday (3-30) had made early inroads and left Wilcot at 32-4.

The recovery was started by Sadler and Russell Spencer (21) with a partnership of 50 in 10 overs before the run-a-ball century stand with Gilbey took Wilcot to the brink of victory.

Lambourn's innings stuttered at the start as Gilbey (4-36) and Lanyon (2-42) ran through the top order.

Annetts made an attractive 31, but at 84-6 the visitors were struggling.

Davis (42) made the most of being dropped on 0, and with Hawkins (24) breathed life into the innings.

Zak Hussain (2-28) impressed on his debut and some late hitting from Munday (22) took Lambourn to 191.

For a while it looked enough, but Sadler fittingly settled the issue by scoring the winning runs to take Wilcot to victory with an over to spare.
