Cricket: Wiltshire suffered a 10-wicket defeat against Cornwall at Camborne on Tuesday.
Wiltshire won the toss and chose to bat after a late start because of rain and had reached 98 for 3 after 30 overs when further rain brought an end to the day’s play.
The players out were Jon Chandler (39), Ben Walker (29) and Joe Breet (21). Play started late on the second day but a full number of overs were completed.
Greg Lamb (30) and Michael Coles (43) took the score to 166 but when they were out only James Hayward (53) made any contribution and when he was last out, Wiltshire’s total had reached 248 all out. For Cornwall, Chris Hunkin took 4 for 50.
In reply, Cornwall had reached 288 for 7 at the close.
Tom Sharp scored 61 and with Keith Parsons (28) put on 109 for the 5th wicket. Cornwall were bowled out for 322 early on the 3rd day, a lead of 74.
For Wiltshire Greg Lamb bowled 32 overs to take 3 for 82 and Pat Turk 3 for 70. Wiltshire started steadily with an opening stand of 36 between Jon Chandler (13) and Ben Walker (26), but after Tom Sharp had dismissed both openers, Chris Hunkin broke the middle order as Wiltshire collapsed on a deteriorating pitch and were all out for 98.
Tom Sharp took 5 for 24 and Chris Hunkin 5 for 20. Cornwall easily scored the 25 needed without loss to complete a comprehensive win.
