MATEJ Zagar and Leigh Adams experienced differing fortunes in the Slovenian Grand Prix on Saturday, as Russian youngster Emil Sayfutdinov took a perfect seven race wins in Krsko.

Zagar missed out on a last eight berth and Adams came fourth in the semi-final, before Sayfutdinov cut Jason Crump’s world championship lead to 26 points with victory in the final.

Adams picked up two points behind Greg Walasek in heat two but Zagar was outclassed in his first outing against Sayfutdinov, Freddie Lindgren and Andreas Jonsson.

The Slovenian bounced back on his home shale as he took the chequered flag ahead of Tomasz Gollob, Chris Harris and Adams.

The Swindon captain then repeated Zagar’s last-to-first feat as he led in Rune Holta, Jonsson and Crump.

Zagar took two points from heats 11 and 13 before Adams scored four from 16 and 19 to seal his place in the semi-final.

But Zagar’s second place behind Holta in heat 20 was not enough to make the last eight as he was pipped by Scott Nicholls and Kenneth Bjerre into 10th.

Adams found the trio of Sayfutdinov, Gollob and Greg Hancock too hot to handle in the semi-final, and Crump was eliminated in the other semi.

Sayfutdinov won a re-run final ahead of surprise package Holta, while Gollob came in third and Nicki Pedersen was excluded for crashing into Gollob in the initial race.
