THE successful career of Trowbridge’s Francesca Fox has continued with medals at the recent British Open Individual Championships.
Despite missing a week’s training through illness, the pupil at Matravers School, Westbury, performed a clean rope routine to take gold in Walsall.
Further golds followed in the hoop and ribbon disciplines, a couple of mistakes giving her silver in the ball.
Fox also enjoyed success on and off the mat at the recent Bath Open International competition.
The 17-year-old was presented with the Daphine Dickins award for outstanding gymnastic achievement in the South West region.
Fox, a three-time British champion, represented Great Britain at the rhythmic world championships in Japan earlier this year and is the first rhythmic gymnast to have won the award.
The teenager, coached by Sarah Binding at City of Bath, also competed in the Senior Open section of the Bath competition and won gold in all four disciplines, rope, hoop, ribbon and ball, and took the overall senior trophy.
