Wessex Blades B 21 Holt C 17
WESSEX edged ahead after two quarters as the Holt defence, which had previously struggled, showed improvement.
A strong third quarter left Wessex in control, although Holt fought back near the end.
Player of the Match for Holt was GS Angela Eade, the club dedicating the game to the memory of Carol Brereton, a Holt club player and umpire who lost her battle against cancer at the weekend.
Chippenham B 11 Holt A 41
HOLT made a strong start, putting pressure on their Chippenham counterparts, Kirsty Leather showing excellent defensive skills.
By half time Holt had earned an impressive 17-goal lead, but Chippenham tightened up their defence on centre passes in the third quarter, allowing themselves to double their tally.
But Holt’s centre court play flowed effectively from both defenders and shooters during the final quarter.
Player of the match was GA Kelly Jones.
Wessex Blades 25 Devizes A 46
BLADES started their match versus Devizes ‘A’ well, showing confidence in their passing, moving and shooting skills.
The defensive combination of Kelly Hearn limited the Devizes scoring rate and Blades trailed just 9-8 at the first break.
In the second quarter Devizes gelled and pulled to lead 24-11, going on to dominate the remainder of the match.
Blades player of the match was Carolynn Blackburn.
Westbury A 38 Devizes B 15
FIELDING a side with three players from the C squad, Devizes were in determined mood to defeat Westbury in their second meeting of the season.
But with two wins under their belts, Westbury converted more of their shooting opportunities.
were enjoying new found confidence. Both sides created plenty of shooting opportunities but it was Westbury who managed to convert more. Player of match for Dev went to C team player Penny Hinton, and the Westbury centre earned the same accolade.
Moonraker Junior League
SUNDAY morning saw the third round of matches Devizes had wins in all age groups – U11s, U12s, U13s and U14s.
Devizes Pink just managed to pull ahead of Chippenham in the U11 section, as Devizes Blue defeated the Green team.
In the U12 section Devizes had good second and fourth quarters to extend their lead over Westbury.
At U13 level, Devizes had two wins against Wessex Blades and Chippeham.
And Dev U14’s produced a very strong display in the second half of the match to record a big win over Wessex Blades.
