AFTER a delayed start due to other matches overrunning, Melksham took advantage, converting the second of two short corners as Cheryl Noyce pounced on the loose ball to shovel it past Lucy Nash in goal. West Wilts picked themselves up, with Suzi Agate and Zoe Symes both going on penetrating runs deep into Melksham territory, but neither Melissa Ilic nor Emily Moody could control the final pass.
In the second half, Wilts’ Nic Ilic took a side-line ball and found Zoe Symes with pinpoint accuracy.
Symes set off towards goal carrying the ball around four Melksham players before unleashing a cracking shot from the edge of the D which flew past the keeper for the equaliser.
But West Wilts couldn’t hold on as Melksham stepped up the pressure again, Lizzie Porter scoring their second – an almost carbon-copy of the first – from a further short corner.
