THE magic of the cup has rubbed off in Pewsey after two of their sides reached finals at the weekend.
Pewsey Vale’s first team, bossed by Adie Holcombe, claimed a place in the Wiltshire League’s Corsham Print Senior Cup final with a 1-0 win over Wroughton on Saturday.
Then 24 hours later, the U18 side, also coached by Holcombe in the county Youth Floodlit League, reached the final of the Wiltshire Youth Cup, beating Salisbury City 5-4 on penalties.
“It's been a fantastic weekend for Pewsey,” said Holcombe. “They’re both great results and Sunday’s game was a huge victory because no one gave us a chance against an academy side.
“It’s a long time since we’ve had any side in a cup final so if we were to bring silverware back to Pewsey, it would a great achievement.”
The U18s will face FC Chippenham Youth in their final, which Holcombe hopes may be staged at Swindon Town’s County Ground.
“For some, this will be their last season with the club and it would be great for them to play at the County Ground,” said Holcombe. “I’ve managed some of them since they were U11s.”
The Wiltshire League side will play Westbury United or Shrewton United in the final of the Senior Cup.
