VETERAN member of North Wilts Golf Club, Bill Nelson, achieved perfection this month when he hit an ace at the club’s difficult, downhill 13th hole.
In doing so, Nelson joined three other North Wilts members who in the space of 10 days, saw their balls vanish after a single shot, albeit on the sixth hole.
Nelson’s achievement is not the first time he has had a hole-in-one.
This is the eighth time he has achieved the feat - at a mere 88 years old.
Nelson, pictured right, has lived in Devizes for 22 years having moved to Wiltshire when he retired from working in South Wales.
He then joined the spectacular course at North Wilts where he has developed many great friendships.
A family man, has been married to his wife Vera for 54 years have two children and five grandchildren.
Club captain Bill Lawrance said: “Bill is a wonderful man, always kindly and mindful of others.
“He is a member known to everyone and a golfer of consummate skill.
“You can always rely on Bill to hit it straight down the middle of the fairway.
“We congratulate him on this quite remarkable achievement.”
