Bromham are such good sports

11:37am Friday 9th June 2006

BROMHAM have been named the most sporting football club in Wiltshire.

The village side, who play in the Premier Division of the Wiltshire League, received their award and a cheque for £500 at the annual meeting of the Wiltshire Football Association on Friday.

The awards are based on the club's discipline record over the past season. Bromham had one player sent off and collected only a handful of bookings.

Manager John Boatman said: "It is nice to be recognised in this way, particularly as last season was a very frustrating one for the club, with problems of availability of players from January."

Wiltshire League clubs completed a 1-2-3 in the awards, with Warminster Town second and receiving £300 and Westside, in their first season as a senior club, third (£150). Amesbury Town were fourth (£50).

In the youth and minors section the winners were: Phoenix, Sarum, Wroughton Juniors and Westbury United Youth.

In the section for junior, Sunday and women's and girls' clubs, the winners were Lower Stratton, New Sarum, Biddestone Arms and Wootton Bassett Town Ladies.

The fair play award in the Wiltshire Youth Floodlight League was won by Chippenham Town Youth.
