OUR loss up in Cheshire was a little bit disappointing but there were plenty of positives to take out of it.

We’ve got a very young team and we really lost the game in one session.

We were 160-2 at one point on the first day but we ended up being all out for 251.

I had a conversation with the players in the dressing room on the first and third nights and we all knew that the first day was where we really lost the game.

If it weren’t for that session, then the game would have been pretty even all the way, so it’s a little disappointing in that sense.

But there were plenty of positives and a few good individual performances.

Jayden Levitt came back into the team and got 97 in the first innings and 75 in the second.

Joe Breet hit a good 54 whilst Rob Walker and Henry Langford also got similar totals for us.

We knew that Cheshire would be a really tough place to go out and get a result anyway and their batsman Richard Logan came out and really smacked some runs for them.

We’ve had a tough start to the three-day games so far this season but we’ve also been given some tough games to play.

We’ve played Shropshire and Cheshire and we’ve still got Cornwall, at Corsham, starting this weekend.

But we’ll look forward to playing the likes of Herefordshire and Wales afterwards and we’ll look to get some points there.

At Corsham the first team had a really big win against Taunton St Andrews on the weekend.

It was a notoriously tough place to go but the guys held on to defend 161 and with Taunton at 121-6, young Joe King came in and really steadied the game, which is great.

They were second before the game but now we’ve leapfrogged them and this weekend’s game against Bath will be massive.

I’ll also be playing for the seconds this weekend but I’ll keep an eye on the firsts and hopefully they can get another win.

And now we can relax and watch the football on Sunday afternoon as well.
