GOLF legend Peter Alliss and fellow celebrities will descend on The Wiltshire Golf Club on Monday for the club’s charity celeb/am.
Alliss will be joined by the likes of snooker legend Willie Thorne, television presenter Steve Rider, comedian Jimmy Tarbuck, celebrity chef Brian Turner and Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson the club’s annual Celeb/Am.
Known as the voice of golf, Alliss will act as starter on the first tee. Membersof the public are welcome to attend and a charity gala dinner is also being held on the Sunday.
Both events are raising money for The Nicholl Spinal Injury Foundation to help fund Prof. Harold Raisman at UCL, who is doing Stem Cell Research into eventually curing paralysis amongst other things.
Last year’s winners, Yasmine Broocks (girls) and Ben Amor (boys), will both return this year to defend their titles. Notable past winners of the competition, who all went on to become professionals, include Swindon-based European Tour and former Ryder Cup player David Howell (1991 and 1992), Gary Harris (1989), Gary Haugh (2003) and Richard Scarrott (2004 and 2005). The competition at 10.00am and is due to finish at 4.30pm, with a prize giving at 5.00pm. Players aged 10 and over will play the full 18-hole course, whilst those aged under 10 will play nine holes.
