HILPERTON rhythmic gymnast Francesca Fox says the pressure is as high as ever as she makes her latest bid to impress the Great Britain Olympic selectors this weekend in Bradford.

The 19-year-old and her teammates, who train full-time at the University of Bath, will be performing in their second trial event in Yorkshire tomorrow, as they chase a place in January’s London 2012 test event.

“We’re training 40 hours a week at the moment and it’s been difficult but we are improving,” said Fox, who took part in the opening trial in Birmingham in August.

“We competed in Bulgaria last month and got deducted points because our music had words in it, so that’s something that we’ve had to change but it’s important that we learned that.

“There’s quite a lot of tension in training because everyone wants to get things right but we’ll get there eventually.”

Despite her hectic schedule, Fox has also filmed television appearances for quiz shows A Question of Sport and A League of Their Own.

“Doing those things is really fun but you actually lose a day of training and you can’t thinking they are hours you won’t get back,” she said.

The youngster was named Sports Personality of the Year at the Wiltshire & Swindon Sports Awards.

She added: “I didn’t really expect that and it’s nice to know I’ve got the county’s support and not just my family’s.”
