SAM Gooding thinks his Westbury United players deserve all the credit for their recent good form, after they notched up their third straight win last weekend.
United got the better of Hengrove Athletic at Meadow Lane and were ahead less than 10 minutes in when Simon Millard was tripped in the area by Hengrove keeper Courtney Redwood.
Striker Jamie Mines, who had only joined Westbury from Radstock Town the day before, marked his debut by firing home the penalty.
The visitors levelled the scores shortly afterwards but Gooding’s men grabbed the winner at the end of the first half when Millard fired home with his left foot after being set up by Beau Blakeman.
“We were quite poor to start with but after that, you couldn’t fault the players’ effort and commitment. They deserve the credit,” said the Westbury joint-boss.
“I think that winning gives your confidence a boost and hopefully we can carry it on.”
