CHIPPENHAM slumped to a surprise 3-1 defeat at the hands of Bashley yesterday evening.
The Bluebirds could have propelled themselves into the play-off places in the Southern Premier with victory at Hardehuish Park, but it was not to be for Adie Mings’ men.
Midtable Bashley took the lead moments before the break through James Stokoe, and the same man added another seconds later to put the visitors 2-0 up.
Scott Lye gave Chippenham hope in the 55th minute, but Ian Oliver wrapped up the points for Bashley with 12 minutes to play.
Elsewhere, Cirencester took Bristol City to penalties in the Gloucestershire Challenge Trophy.
The teams were locked at 2-2 after extra time with Scott Griffin and Jon Else scoring the Ciren goals.
But the Robins won 3-1 on spot kicks.
