EXECUTIVE BRIEF: There's plenty to think about ahead of the club's big day out

TUESDAY night was a great evening for Swindon Town and especially for those 10,400 supporters at the County Ground.

We’re delighted that we’ll be going to Wembley for the second time in two years.

The atmosphere against Barnet was fantastic and it was great for them to be able to celebrate getting to the final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Our aim at the start of the season was to try to get to the area final of the competition but to get to the actual final is a great achievement.

It’s going to be very different to the (League One) play-off final (in 2010) and not just because this time it’s to win a trophy and the prize isn’t promotion.

You go there and come back with something or you come back empty- handed and we’re hoping that, this time, we don’t leave with nothing.

We’ve got six weeks until the final and there are a lot of things for us to consider before then.

We have to think about how and when we sell our ticket allocation, how we deal with tickets for family and friends of the players or how many dignitaries from the Swindon area we can invite.

We’ve already had fans asking if there’s a way for the group of fans who know all of the Swindon songs to sit together in the same area and make the atmosphere better.

Then there’s also the question of if we’ll be playing in a new strip and also if the players will be staying overnight in London beforehand.

There’s a lot of admin to get through but, in football terms, we can’t celebrate this for too long because we’ve got the league to concentrate on.

We play Barnet again this weekend and everyone’s hoping that the weather doesn’t throw us another curveball.

You can beat the opposition but you can never beat nature and it was very frustrating to see last weekend’s game (against Burton Albion) called off.

We did everything we could to get the game on.
