DARREN Perrin says that he was delighted to commit his future to Frome Town after signing a new contract at Badger’s Hill.
The Robins boss, who was interviewed for the manager’s job at Conference South outfit Dorchester Town last November, has penned a new deal with Frome until the end of the 2012/2013 season.
Perrin’s current deal was due to run out at the end of the club’s first campaign in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division and the Robins chief said: “We’ve been in discussions for quite a while, pretty much ever since the Dorchester angle, and I’m really happy to be at the football club.
“It’s a good club, with good supporters, and even though it’s well-publicised that we don’t have a great budget, the board are always open and honest with me and do whatever they can to help.”
Frome’s clash with Oxford City last weekend was one of the many games to fall victim to the cold snap and Perrin is wary of his side’s momentum taking a hit.
“Our confidence is high because we’ve been in half-decent form and it’s a shame to miss out on games,” he said.
“Everyone’s in the same boat but you’d have to say, with the weather forecast, that this weekend’s game (at Redditch United) is in doubt too and that could make it three weeks without a game for us – you don’t want it to stop your momentum.”
With Frome’s game called off last Friday, Perrin looked to keep his players’ fitness up with some out-of-the-ordinary aerobic training.
The Robins boss said: “We got the players into the studio we have at our ground to do some zumba.
“I was watching and I have to emphasise that.
“I think it was a lot harder work than they were thinking. If the game is off this weekend then we’ve booked a five-a-side pitch and also some spinning sessions in the week.”
