DEVIZES angler Lloyd Burgess reeled in more than he bargained for after landing this monster pike from the Kennet and Avon Canal.
The 51-year-old, of Sheep Street, netted the huge fish during an inter-club match on the canal at Marsh Lane in Devizes.
He said: “It weighed in at 25lb 13oz and I also caught two other pike, one weighing in at 13lb 7oz and the other baby one weighing 1lb 1oz, using a very large smelt as bait.
“The fish is the biggest pike to have come out of the Devizes Kennet and Avon Canal for quite a few years.’’
Burgess, who works as a production operative at Herman Miller, is a member of Devizes Angling Club and is also head bailiff of Devizes Angling Association.
