WILTSHIRE lost their first match of the season as Cornwall inflicted a 123-run loss in the Minor Counties Championship Western Division.

Struggling at 37-5 in reply to Cornwall's 199 all out at the close of day two - the opening day on Sunday having been washed out - the visitors slumped to 68 all out in only 35 overs.

Sam Hockin took 2-33 for the home side, Rob Harrison with 3-20, Tom Sharp 2-12 and Andrew Libby 3-1. Cornwall set about scoring quick runs with a lead of 131 and declared on 93-8 in 19 overs, leaving Wiltshire a minimum of 55 overs to score 225 to win.

For Wiltshire, Tahir Afridi took 3-42 and Muksh Bhatt 5-48.

This task proved too much for Wiltshire who were all out for 101 with just under one hour remaining to leave Cornwall winners by 123 runs.

Steve Bullen with 33 top scored for Wiltshire and for Cornwall Tom Sharp took 5-25 and Hockin 4-50.

Wiltshire are due to play their re-arranged semi final in the MCCA Trophy against Staffordshire on Sunday July 15 at Leek.
